I have just finished my Master’s degree in Theatre Design from UAL Wimbledon College of Arts (Sept 2019) and have a background as a costume designer/maker, as well as professional experience working as a dresser, wardrobe assistant and wardrobe supervisor. I have also created set designs for student productions.
I consider my greatest strengths to be my design flair and visualisation skills, and I am also very confident in my costume making and sewing skills (both hand and machine), pattern cutting, draping on the stand and many different textile embellishment techniques. I am also a proficient model box maker and can design for theatre sets of all kinds. I have an eye for detail and set myself very high standards.
Skills and Experience
In addition to my BA and MA degrees in theatre design and costume, I have worked as a wardrobe assistant and supervisor and also a stage assistant on a large number of different shows, covering professional, amateur and youth theatres, dramas, musicals, opera, ballet, pantomime and even some immersive theatre. I also have experience making props and scene painting for a variety of student productions, and am skilled in the current industry-standard design programs, such as PhotoShop, Adobe Illustrator, Vectorworks and Sketchup.
Whether working on my own or as part of a team, I always strive to be helpful, hard-working, reliable and enthusiastic about everything I do. I am a dedicated individual with a creative flair and a skillset and attitude which enables me to tackle tasks in an original and imaginative way. I am very hands-on in my approach to working and learning and am always looking for new challenges and opportunities to utilise and expand my skills in the costume and theatre industry.
